Compress PDF

Reduce PDF size by recompressing eligible embedded images and content streams.

This tool uses an isolated conversion service. Your selected file is transferred only for this conversion and is handled ephemerally.

Current scope: Not every PDF can be made smaller. Compression effectiveness depends on document contents.

How it works

Choose the supported file, configure any options shown for this job, run the tool, then download the generated result. Formatberry does not require an account.

Compress a PDF without promising an artificial target size

Compress PDF attempts to reduce file size by recompressing eligible embedded images and content streams. The amount saved depends on what is actually inside the document. Image-heavy PDFs may have more room for reduction, while text-heavy, already optimized or previously compressed PDFs may shrink only a little or not at all.

Can Formatberry compress a PDF to exactly 200 KB or 500 KB?

No exact output size is guaranteed. A fixed target such as 200 KB or 500 KB may require quality loss that cannot be predicted safely from file size alone. Formatberry instead performs the supported compression pass and returns the resulting PDF, so you can compare the output size with the original.

Processing and privacy for PDF compression

This is a server-assisted tool because its certified compression engine runs in an isolated conversion service. The selected PDF is transferred only for the conversion and handled ephemerally under the production retention, sandboxing and logging controls.
